Background
Orcana-Rae (pronounced Or-kanna-Ray) is the illegitimate offspring between the bored nobility of her Elven house and a traveler who managed to hold her mother's attention a little too long. Following her birth, Orcana-Rae (who was born and raised under a different name) was shunned and outcast among her peers for her mixed heritage and as soon as she was able, Orcana-Rae took her personal belongings, stole a purse of gold coins from her mother’s new suitor and took for the road where she would travel by a different name.
In stark contrast to living among the nobility, Orcana-Rae struggled at first to simply exist away from the comforts of her upbringing but she enjoyed the solitude and clarity of mind that being alone brought her. In time she learned the necessary survival skills she needed simply by being forced to live for her self. Stealing when necessary, hunting when necessary, killing when necessary.
Several months after she ran from home, Orcana-Rae stumbled upon the temple of Tanner - the lesser god of evolution. The temple was more like a zoo than a place of worship, exotic animals from distant places were kept and bred within the temple confines. Amazed by their work and the lessons taught by the monks, she stayed at the temple for twenty days and would have stayed longer had it not been for the dark magics that began to stir in the forests beyond the town.
Orcana-Rae's 21st day at the temple saw a solar eclipse cast darkness across the land. As twilight set in shortly after lunch, screams could soon be heard in the distance. Soon fires could be seen burning in the town nearby. It was a matter of time before the undead marched towards the temple that sat nestled in the woods. Orcana-Rae knew she should flee but she remained with the monks she had befriended. The handful of monks were no match to the unending waves of undead, but Orcana-Rae fought on keeping them at a safe distance using a bow she took from the Monk's stores. When she had no more arrows remaining, nothing left to attack with, she ran. She ran and didn't stop running. The adrenaline of the fight kept her going for hours. When she finally stopped running she blacked out where she stood.
It has now been over a decade since Orcana-Rae ran away from home and she is very much the accomplished ranger - still using the bow she took from the Temple of Tanner - but she never allows herself to stay in any place too long. Her travelling lifestyle has meant she's been alone most of her adult life, though to her, that's the best thing about being on the road.
