Zhen notices that the door opposite the corridor that the group just entered in from is unlocked. You cannot seem to hear anything through it though. The other door, that leads North, is locked.
Orcana notes that thick dust covers the stone floor in the corners of the room. The floor that leads up to the door leading East, as well as the floor around the fountain, is completely clear of dust. Especially around the fountain which, seems clean and well maintained.
Orcana notes that the floor leading up to the North door does have Goblin sized prints in the dust, however, these prints are old, are starting to vanish away as dust settles into them once more.

Standing by the door opposite the corridor "This is the only one unlocked, I'll stay nearby in case we are disturbed."
Turning for a quick glance at the object at the center of the room, "Can anyone make out what those runes are, I'm guessing that fountain might be a touch magical from the looks of it. I have had little dealings or knowledge with the arcane. Durgean, Shadow any ideas?" Glancing at each in turn to see their expressions regarding the fountain, Zhen moves silently to the left hand side of the door.

Shadow was immediately at alert upon entering the room. It was not the cave he was anticipating, and it was clear that his companions were caught off guard as well. A faint tickle along the back of his neck made his eyes dart to the fountain and the runes carved upon it. At Zhen's question, Shadow nodded at him. "It is magic," he said, gesturing at the fountain. He wasn't sure of the magic's nature or of its strength, but the drow decided it'd be best to stay alert in this seemingly empty room. "The fountain has magic about it, so stay at your ready..." he said to Orcana.

Removing dust and goblin crap from himself, Durgean staggered into the adjoining room. Dominating it was a fountain. Even at a glance he could tell it was magical, it was so clear that even the elf could see it. Squinting he looked at the runes on the side, they seemed familiar, but he couldn't quite place them. It had been a while since he studied the books and ancient knowledge. Frowning, he tried to remember something about them.

Having studied the tracks in the dust, Orcana turned her attention to her companions. "There are goblin tracks leading North - they're old, so the goblin's don't come through there often. The fountain and the Eastern door show regular if not daily passage."
She looked back at the fountain, slowly approaching it. Her instincts were to run her fingers over the runes and markings, so touch them, but she knew better than to mess with things she didn't understand. "I don't trust this without more time to examine it. Unless someone knows what this is, can we agree to ignore the fountain for now and come back to it? If so, has anybody tried the doors? Preferably the North one?"

Still frowning Durgean walked up to the fountain and peered in. Looking at the bottom, through the water he could see a selection of coins. Thinking about it for a moment, he then reached into his pouch and pulled out a single gold coin. Looking it over, he flicked it into the water where it disappeared with a 'plop' sound.

The water in the fountain ripples outwards and for a brief moment, shimmers with a golden light.

Zhen: You think you hear the sound of footsteps from the other side of the large wooden doors that lead to the East. You can't make out numbers, but you figure that there must be two of them as you can make out conversation. You suspect that it might be in common, but you can't quite tell.

Waving an arm furiously to get everyone's attention Zhen whispered "Voices, two maybe more. Everyone spread out and get ready."
With that he moved so that when the door was opened he was out of view.

At Zhen's warning, Shadow moved quickly and silently to the other side of the door, hiding in a shadow in the corner. He stayed at the ready in case the coming footsteps were from beings less than friendly. After all, this was a cavern infested with greenskins...

Orcana was fixated on the fountain a second longer than the others, but snapped out of it when Shadow started to move. She realized what was going on instantly and took up a position kneeling behind the fountain, readying her bow from her body and drawing an arrow in anticipation for unfriendlies entering from the doorway between Shadow and Zhen.

One of the two doors that made up the East doorway opened in, and suddenly a voice speaking in gruff Goblin could be heard. The grey skinned figure that stood just over five feet tall stepped into the room and turned as if he was speaking to another. After a moment, the other door opened in, and two smaller, greener Goblins, much like the ones you fought not long ago, were pushed into the room, followed by another, taller, grey skinned figure that looked much like a taller Goblin.
The second grey skinned figure spoke this time. "It is okay, he'll just send...'Her', to deal with this muckhole."

Waiting until he saw the goblins move into the room, Zhen judged that all had come in now and began to make his move. Focusing on the grey skinned one that had turned to face the others he launched himself forward slashing high with his kamah and aiming for the goblins midriff with his axe knuckles.

Figuring there was no point in diplomacy with gobblin types, Orcana took her opportunity to fire before things escalated or worse, someone was spotted. She aimed for the grey-skin closest to Shadow and fired from behind the fountain. (Initiative check: 11 (roll) + 3 (bonus) = 14) (Longbow Attack: 19 (roll) + 4 (bonus) = 23)

-------------------------- Player note - I've updated in accordance with Toastee's recommendations, and re-re-read the combat section on d20pfsrd and altered my post regarding critical hits, confirmation & damage accordingly. To clarify, in order to confirm a critical hit, you only need the confirmation roll to result in a hit against the target's AC, as per This section

Zhens first attack hit clean, but his second punch clips the light steal shield that the grey skinned Goblin is carrying. The figures red eyes are wide with shock, caught by surprise.
The two Goblins cry out in surprise and one bolts for the corridor that you all entered in by, running right past the well, and Orcana in the process.
---- Roll Init: Post results in the FB OOC thread. Something I forgot to mention when Shadow had his crit. When you score a crit, you need to roll again to confirm it. The confirming roll however only needs to total the lowest number in your weapons crit margin.
EG: You roll a 19 on a 19-20 weapon. You need to then reroll to confirm. You roll a 17 and your attack mod is + 2. You hit 19, so the crit is confirmed. If you fail to confirm, it is just a normal hit.
Orcana: I also need you to edit your post to give me your target. (As well as your crit confirmation roll.)

Durgean felt a cool feeling wash over him, just as his coin dropped into the water. He didn't however have much time to think about it. At a hiss from one of the elves he dropped into a bit of cover that the fountain afforded him. Listening he could hear goblin talk, one - presumably the boss - was telling a small group his plan. No sooner had they entered the room than the human Monk leapt up out of his hidden position and in a fast and furious swinging of his fists got a good few solid connecting punching on the boss.
Slipping out of his cover, Durgean grabbed the icon of his god Torag that was hanging by his neck and closed his eyes. In whispered prayer, he asked Torag to help guide and protect his allies against these vile creatures that defile all that is sacred. Briefly the icon grows through his grasped hand, his fingers looked blood red for a minute and then the light fades. Looking around to his eyes only there appears golden glowing rune above the head of each member of his group, then it fades. His god had heard him.

When Zhen launched his attack, Shadow did the same and targeted the second of the larger, grey-skinned goblins. He could tell that the two larger ones were stronger and of a hardier nature as Zhen attacked the first of them. The drow assaulted the second with a steely determination in his eyes.

Both of Shadows attacks hit, causing harsh damage to the grey skinned Goblin, catching it off guard. Shadow could feel, and hear the cracks of bone with in the Hobgoblin as his attacks both hit home.
The Hobgoblin stumbled back, trying to clutch at his right arm, having been severely punctured by Orcana's shot before. The figure falls to the floor up against the door and proceeds to bleed out.

Orcana noted the little goblin as it scarpered around the fountain and off back the way the party came from, probably out of the cave all together or to alert reinforcements down the other passage somewhere. She didn't care, it wasn't a priority, the other Hobgoblin was. She drew another arrow from her quiver and hoped for another perfect shot on the last Hobgoblin.

As the remaining hobgoblin turned to attack Zhen, Shadow saw out of the corner of his eye as the human scraped by and took down the second of the fleeing goblins. Knowing the first to be long gone, the drow launched himself at the final foe. Changing his attack vector ever so slightly, Shadow hoped to take the greyskin down without killing it. It was obviously smart enough to be interrogated, and there was something else afoot here than just a pack of greenskins raiding towns...

Zhen manages to strike the fleeing Goblin as it runs to the door. It lets out a small cry as its melon like head cracks off of the stone floor.
An arrow strikes the Hobgoblin after Shadows strike tries to knock it out. It staggers back, smashing the back of its head off of the wall behind it. Its shield and long sword clatter to the stone floor as the Hobgoblin slides down the wall and slumps over, knocked out cold, the arrow protruding from its chest.
(It will be out cold for about five minutes.)
COMBAT OVER.

Annoyed that one of the goblins got away, Shadow kicked the hobgoblin's longsword and shield away from its body. He had no use for such instruments, but the others in the party may want the loot. Ignoring the two dead bodies nearby, he pulled his hemp rope out of his bag and tied it around the unconscious hobgoblin. He looked at the others where they stand and noticed that only Zhen had been hurt at all, and even that not much. Pleased with their performance, Shadow stood up over the tied hobgoblin and spoke to Orcana.
"We should interrogate it. I fear something is amiss in these caves... something more sinister than simple livestock disappearing. Someone should also keep watch... the one that escaped may bring help back, though it ran the wrong way."

Now the fight was done, adrenalin beginning to fade, Zhen felt the sting of a shallow sword gash across the ribcage. Muttering a few choice words under his breath he heads back towards the fountain, as he passes the unconcious goblin he aims a derogatory kick at its arm then carried on walking.
Looking at Durgean, "How do you feel after tossing that coin into the water? Will it be ok to clean this graze out?"

As the Hobgoblin is kicked, he stirs for a brief moment and slowly opens his eyes. He snarls has he realises he is bound. He looks up at the people who have captured him and frowns. It can't be more than a few minutes since the fight had ended since the Human is still wincing at his wound.
He looks up at the dark skinned elf and frowns before spitting at its feet.

Orcana moved by Zhen as she made her way to the newly deceased. She saw the sword cut into his flesh before she could let loose her arrow and strangely she cared about his welfare. "Zhen, I could take a look at that cut for you if you wanted?" she said as she knelt beside the dead hobgoblin, drawing her sword ready to remove it's ears. She paused a moment to take everything in before cutting into the hobgoblin's flesh. (Perception check: 16 (roll) + 7(bonus) = 23)
She cut switfly through the hobgoblin's ears as Shadow bound his new play-thing, then set to work on the goblin by the door as Shadow spoke. "You play with your new girlfriend, I'm sure the others will be alert enough if more come. Do you think they want hobgoblin ears back at Sandpoint too?" she smiled, knowing the sight must be turning Shadow's stomach if just a little.
As the bound Hobgoblin comes around, Orcana couldn't help but be on alert. Her sword already drawn, she was ready regardless of what would happen.

Shadow looked down at the bound beast and when it spat at his feet, he returned favor with a quick kick in the jaw. Nothing capable of dealing mortal damage, mind, but enough to certainly sting. Kneeling down, Shadow gripped the hobgoblin by its neck and pinned it up against the wall. His pale eyes flashed dangerously. "How many more?" was his first question. He knew it could speak Common, but doubted it would comprehend Elven.

The Hobgoblin frowned. "Ten or so. I don't know." it replied in gruff common.

Orcana, you note that both Hobgoblins had a long sword each, a light steel shield each, and both have a small pouch on their belts, and they are both wearing brown and weathered studded leather armour.

Doubting that the hobgoblin spoke the truth, Shadow snarled at it and tightened his grip for a brief moment. "That is all?" he asked, eyes narrowing. This wasn't the first time he had interrogated someone, though it was his first experience with a hobgoblin specifically. He gestured towards the fountain, eyes never leaving the hobgoblin's. "What is this?"
