"Shalelu?" Orcana asked, taking a quick breath to compose herself. First I'm trying to go unnoticed, now I'm chasing after people! What's up with me today? Orcana wondered. "Mind if I walk out with you? I'd like to talk about the Heyson's missing livestock if that's OK?"

Shalelu looked out into the night. She had to forcibly bite her lip to avoid saying anything she might regret.
She turned to face the Half Elf and allowed herself to smile, somewhat. "I do not mind." she replied as she glanced back out at the night, the rain now slowly turning into spits of rain. A vast contrast to the downpour that they had seen before. "There is some travel within the town before I shall enter back into the Hinterlands, so there is time to talk. What is it that you wish to know?"

"kirito" he said extending his hand Diabel responded. Having guessed the big man had not heard him before due to the new comer he asked again "So about these goblins". It wasnt that he wanted the company, more like if Kale was going to kill the goblins himself its better that Diabel himself were around to at least come away with some coin.

Orcana noticed the expression on the Elf's face as she spoke up but she knew she was an unwanted guest. "Telyn said you had an idea about what was happening to his livestock." she said, pulling her damp cloak tighter around her lean frame to keep the last of the rain off her. "What could you tell me about it?
Orcana matched Shalelu's step and smiled as the pair moved down the overly-muddy road.

The rain had certainly made its presence known to this part of the road, but as they entered into the market square, and from there, onto Festival Street, the road became harder, and more bedded with stone or cobbles.
"I do not know for sure sadly, but from what I have been able to track, a lot of movement runs toward the Tors. Now, that does not mean much when you consider that you have three or four major Goblin tribes that live around or within the Tors."
They turned onto Festival Street. "I can tell you that it is not the work of the Licktoad Tribe, who live in Brinestump though. While they are the tribe that tends to steal from Telyn the most, over the years, they only tend to take what they need, and only because he is one of two or three farmsteads near to Brinestump."
As they neared the High Street, Shalelu looked at the Half Elf. "I am sorry. You may not know much of these places I mention. If I were you, I would stop by Halards tomorrow." As if on que, they passed 'Halards Adventuring Supplies' "He will have maps of the area that you can buy."
"Do you wish to know anything else?"

Orcana eyed the window display in Halards' and made a mental note of the path she took get here. "I hate to be so blunt Shalelu, but are you sure that's all you know?"

What was taking Orcana so long? Since his encounter with Shalelu, the Drow had stayed holed up in his room so as to avoid any more unnecessary confrontations. He couldn't believe how foolish he'd been, simply storming out - and to have it be the elf, of all people! But now, Orcana was taking much longer than he had any right to believe she would. Had something happened to her? Stupid, stupid... that's what you get for leaving your companion with strangers, he chastised himself.
Deciding to go and get her from the downstairs, Shadow snatched up his cloak and threw it around himself. He drew the hood over his head but left the scarf where it lay. If she was in trouble, he had to make haste. With a tug, he opened the door to his room and headed down the stairs back to the common room to look for his companion.
He only hoped that his hood covered him well enough to keep him out of trouble.

"Diabel, Kale - well met, gentlemen. I am Kemuel, former Knight of the Ton". Mouth drawn into a thin, firm line, Kemuel drank his ale as he sat with this new company.
Kemuel took a moment to cast his gaze over the people he now sat with. Diabel was tall and seemingly young for an Elf. Then again, thought the Knight, Elves always looked young regardless of age. The Elf looked very well equipped, his Rapier looked keen and a joy to wield. Kale too was young and athletic. A human's age was definitely easier to read. Despite his youthful appearance, Kale seemed to exude a fire from within. His movements were graceful for someone his size, which attested to his prowess and potential.
"Gentlemen, my suggestion is that once we are all rested and sated, we find and approach this Sheriff Hemlock. What say you both?

Caught off guard by the half elfs suddend departure Zhen looked up at Telyn and his sons "Well that was quick. Well thanks for the information sirs, I'll be sure to speak to Balor tomorrow. Off now for a good nights rest and q bright start in the morning. Good evening. "
With that Zhen walked to the stairs and as he went up all he could see was a fast moving dark shadow. Too late to do anything other then lessen the impact Zhen and the shadow collided and stumbled down the last few steps with an "oommpphh "

Shadow was moving quickly down the stairs, his grey eyes scanning the common room for Orcana. Not paying attention to what lay before him, he collided with Zhen quite suddenly. With a grunt as the two tumbled down the stairs, the Drow thought at first someone had had the gall to attack him. Landing with a hard thud, Shadow rolled over quickly and sprang up in a ready stance.
Upon seeing that Zhen had suffered the same fate as he did and noticing that the human wasn't jumping to attack, Shadow lowered his stance almost as quickly as it had appeared. His arms and legs ached from the quick tumble down the stairs, but nothing was damaged permanently. Just bruises.
It was at that point Shadow noticed that his cloak had been peeled off during the tumble and lay discarded at the bottom of the stairs. His race was revealed to the entire common room.

A bit bruised by the short tumble, "Terribly sorry there are yo...." he trailed off eyes and brain registering what he was seeing.
"DROW " he yelled, setting himself in a ready stance. Hesitant to go one on one with a dark elf while hindered by the stairs and wedged in a corner.

Ameiko blinked. For a moment, all she could do was smirk at the situation.
Romi glanced over, looked at the Drow, shrugged and returned to drinking his mead.
Telyn and his boys, and the other two patrons who had done nothing but drink quietly to themselves all evening looked on with a mixture of shock and awe. Not one of them having actually seen a Drow before.
-- Shalelu glanced at the Half Elf as they made their way up the High Street, the rain having ceased in the last few moments. "No, it is not, but all I have are theories, theories which I feel I need more evidence to work on." They turned at the end of the High Street and started to head into another open area, heading for Church Street. "Look, my patrols take me all over the Hinterlands, and while I often travel through the Tors, even with my skill, it would be foolish to attempt to explore the vast amounts of old cave systems and tombs that litter the area. It really requires a group."

Orcana nodded in acceptance. She knew herself that, while one could travel alone with relative ease, accomplishing much more than the mundane would be exceedingly difficult alone. "So you believe the answer lies out in the Tors? Or towards Brinestump?

They moved past the construction of the new Cathedral. Shalelu looked up at the building with was not too far off of completion. She suspected a few months more, and Father Zantus would be happy. The town had worked hard since the old chapel had been burnt to the ground five years before.
"I would say the Tors, as Teyln's farm is the only one near to Brinestump which has been affected, most, are nearer to the Tors." As they moved down Church Street, they could see the dark, long shape of the town wall. Beyond that lay the the northern part of the Lost Coast road. The wall itself was nowhere near as impressive as some of the big city walls, but it was just high enough, and just study enough to do the job. The big oak and iron doors were shut, and two mean stood watch. They looked to be on the Town militia.
"If you plan on going to the Tors, be very wary. There are a lot of caves and tombs that remain to be explored up there... I also suspect that one of the two Black Dragons may have made a nest there. A young one... but a Dragon none the less."

Shadow's whole body tensed when the human entered a ready stance. Obviously trained, was he trained well enough to best the Drow? Why do they always wish to fight? Secrets cast away, he moved back into his own ready stance. He was painfully aware of his back to the room behind him but kept his eyes on the human before him, prepared to defend himself if necessary.
"Don't want fighting," he said in his broken Common. Although he could understand the language easily enough, he didn't have an extensive vocabulary to draw on and so tended to speak in simple sentences. He only hoped that that would be enough.

From not knowing either men, to talking about hunting goblins together in such a short period of time sounded like a stupid idea to Kale. Thinking a moment in his head, he decided to go ahead with it. "What have I got to loose." He knew that Diabel or Kirito, as he introduced himself to the knight of the ton, and Kemuel were skilled warriors. Kale in a way thought the more men, the less gold but after realising that he is a stranger to the area and did not know what dwells in the dark in these places Kale decided that if anythind was to happen, he hoped that these new, so called companions would have his back.
"Well I'm up for it, why not. A bit hunting, a bit killing and some gold and the end of it sounds pretty good to me."
"But tonight.....we relax and we drink."
Just before Kale took a drink of his Ale he was stopped by a loud shout. "Drow....."
Kale seen the night elf, on show to the rest of the Inn. "Brave brave boy." thought Kale.

Diabel looked at Kemuel"i suppose a share 2 ways is better than non at all he thought to himself. "sure Kemuel is it? a party of 3 would surely make this a lot easier" he smiled again "at least i should hope so". Rising from the table cup in hand "well gentlemen thank you for your hospitality , and i shall see you both in the morning, but for now i bid you good night". no sooner had Kale spoke did the shout interrupt Diabel as he was about to leave "what now" he thought to himself

A chill ran down Orcana's spine at the word - Dragon. She'd seen them enough in the skies in her life but she kept a distance measurable in days worth of walking from anywhere known to play host to a dragon. Folks didn't just walk back out of such places. The idea of wanting to go towards one was just crazy. Wanting to go towards one and not knowing where it was, even more crazy! "You've given me plenty of food for thought, Shalelu, for which I thank you." Orcana's palms were now wetter than her cloak. She was a fair walk away from the safety of the Rusty Dragon now - there's the word again, Dragon - and talking with a complete stranger about things that rangers didn't play around with. "I had better be heading back now. Thank you for all your advice."
Orcana said farewell, giving the Elf a weak smile and a firm hand-shake before headed back towards the Rusty Dragon. She picked up her pace past the half-built Cathedral reaching a steady jog as she traveled down High Street, past Halards on Festival street and on into Market Square where Orcana had hidden her Bow, quiver and sword cane inside her waterproof bag that she'd left on the back of the cart. She chose to enter the Inn unarmed - a gesture of good will - and had planned to recover her belongings at dawn but since she was here she chose to collect them now and hope many of the patrons were retiring for the night when she'd make it back to the Inn. As she counted off her arrows, she heard something she'd been dreading since arriving in Sandpoint. The voice of someone shout "Drow!"

Shalelu watched the Half Elf go and briefly wondered if she was from Crying Leaf. She had intended to ask why she was travelling with a Drow if that had been the case. The Elf turned and headed for the gate. The guards had already noticed the Ranger, and they were already opening the doors. There were a few moments of greetings, but after that Shalelu, bow in one hand, turned into the trees and slipped into the dark.

"Indeed. Walking that road in this rain was hellish."
Godein had returned to his seat and monitoring the room after paying for the drink, content in the quiet. He was mulling over retiring to his room when the wandering monk, Zhen, had stumbled into the walking cloak..
.. which had turned out to be a Drow?
Godein blinked. Was he actually seeing this? He rose, slowly, pulling his silver symbol of Iomedae from beneath his shirt. Maintaining his eye on the drow, he drew his light crossbow, the leather cord that kept it hanging from his belt slipping loose and drew a bead on the Drow.
"Don't want fight", the Drow muttered. Deception thought Godein. This was surely one of the sources of Chaos he had sensed in the room earlier. With a room full of patrons, this was likely going to go wrong very quickly.
"Drow," Godein began, "do not move. I am Inquisitor Godein Rovenra of Iomedae's Inquisition and, dead or alive, you are coming with me."

Hearing the silence nd then a commanding voice, knew I could count on Godein an inquisitor no less, Zhen began to edge forward. "No need to cause a fuss, you're outnumbered so may as well come quietly."
No time to get my weapons out, I can't take my eyes off of him for an instant he thought. Clearing his mind of the shock Zhen focused entirely on the drow. Clenching his fists and raising them he continued forward, hoping to push the drow back and get some more room.

"Whats problem" he said again

Shadow barely kept a snarl from his lips as Zhen approached. He was painfully aware of Godein's crossbow trained on him. Clenching his fists made the leather of his cesti tighten and his eyes flashed dangerously at Zhen. "Stop," he said, doubting most of these fools could speak Elven. He took a step back and tried to think of a way out of this mess.
With a glance in Godein's direction, he spat at the man. "Go nowhere, human."
At the sound of Elven, his eyes flicked to Diabel, the other half-elf. Better than nothing...
"I mean these fools no harm, half-breed. They are making a grave mistake." And that was all of the attention Diabel would get, Shadow's eyes quickly returning to the approaching Zhen. One way or another, something was going to happen...

Turning at the commotion behind him, Durgean turned just in time to see two figures tumble down the stairs. Springing up, to his surprise was an elf. A dark skinned elf. Supping his ale he watched as the human bellowed out "Drow". Then another. This time he identified himself as an Inquisitor. This was getting interesting, if a little out of hand. Loosing his hammer in his belt, the dwarf watched with guarded eyes; ready to intervene if needs be.
Durgean, despite being a cleric, had no desire to get in the way of another's fight. However, he could not with good conscience let another be attacked in his presence without reason.

Orcana broke into a sprint, drawing her bow as she put her boot into the door, the wood around the latch turning to matchsticks as it gave way under the impact. By the time the door slammed against its stop Orcana had identified the biggest threat as the crossbow weilding inquisitor taking aim at Shadow and so repayed the favour in kind, dawing back fully with the tip of her arrow aimed squarely at his head. "Drop your weapons!" she screamed. "Drop them or I drop you!"

Half breed, he didnt get much of what he said but Diabel got that, he had half a mind to say nothing at all "he say's he means no harm" he said not dropping his composure despite the slight. He smiled "bu..." as he was about to speak the door smashed open and the Drows companion was in the room before the door even hit the wall, bow drawn. Diabel sat back in his seat. "at least its a fair fight now" he thought to himself.

"Ahem."was all that Ameiko said. The cheerful host had a look on her features that suggested that she was still eager to serve her customers. It suggested a cheerful, happy persona. But it was quite clearly a mask. A mask that also suggested a certain level of chaotic anger, bubbling underneath its features.
"I should think, that everyone wants to calm down." spoke Romi for the first time that evening, as he continued to sip away at his mead and stare at the back wall.
---- Godein: Consider your Detect Chaos to pick up Ameiko's somewhat, fierce, chaotic aura.

Kale rose, to get a better view of the action. He heard Diabel talk in the elven tongue, what ever he said Kale had no idea, but the drow replied. The man who revealed himself to be known as Godein was first in the crowd to react by reading his crossbow. "An Inquisitor......we..are ..honoured." Kale thought.
Kale Placed his foot up on the stool he was sitting and placed his grip round the dagger which slept in the side of his wolf skinned boot. "Somebody kill him quick before the filth tries to worm his way out of this."
Instantly after the front door of the Inn burst open. The female half-elf with bow at the ready aiming at the Inquisitor. The female told Godien to drop down his weapon or he will be dropped. "Was it really worth killing one man, and yet that would not save her drow companion and probably in the process loosing her own life." ?
Kale slightly turned to face the Ranger.
"Easy lass. As by the time you loose your bow, my blade will be in your skull."

No sooner had he spoke the words the Drow had told him had Kale stood and threatened the woman with the bow. "well this has all gotten rather unpleasant hasnt it" still sat he surveyed the scene, he knew someone was almost guaranteed to get hurt in this situation. "would anyone care to tell me what the problem is here? before someone has to die" and for the first time there was no smile on Diabels face.
